Softball Game Preview: New Brockton Gamecocks vs. Straughn Tigers

New Brockton hasn't had much luck against Straughn recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gamecocks will welcome the Tigers at 5:00 p.m.

New Brockton is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to Straughn. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Straughn's part, Julia Harold made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harold has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Sammie Strickland looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Adelaide Dunn, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Annlee Wise was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Straughn's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for New Brockton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.
