The Woodside Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Sacred Heart Prep Gators at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Woodside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Woodside took on Terra Nova on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joseph Hohl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jeremiah Arias Torres and Cruz Torres stepped up to the plate in a big way. Arias Torres scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Torres scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Colby Fernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Menlo School. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by just one run.

Sacred Heart Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Woodside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Sacred Heart Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Woodside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Sacred Heart Prep, though, as they've only averaged .191. Will they be able to contain Woodside's hitters?

Woodside came out on top in a nail-biter against Sacred Heart Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
