Preview: McLaughlin Mustangs vs. Standing Rock Warriors
The McLaughlin Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Standing Rock Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
McLaughlin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their tough 45-20 defeat to Winner might stick with them for a while. McLaughlin has struggled against Winner recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Standing Rock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They suffered a rough 58-34 loss at the hands of Watford City. While losing is never fun, Standing Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Watford City is ranked 26th).
McLaughlin's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Standing Rock, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
McLaughlin strolled past Standing Rock in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLaughlin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
