Softball Recap: North White Wins Going Away Against Carroll

North White gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past the Carroll Cougars 18-7. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Kaylyn Applegate made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Raelynn Anliker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avi Cain, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

North White kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North White has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-6.

Looking ahead, North White will welcome Pioneer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Carroll, they will head out to face off against Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
