Softball Recap: Elida Beats Bath for Their Seventh Straight Win

Elida entered their tilt with Bath on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-1 victory. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lilly Sifrit made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liv Walters, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Jackson was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Elida's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bath, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Elida will look to defend their home field on Monday against Parkway at 5:00 p.m. As for Bath, they will head out on the road to face off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
