Baseball Recap: Downey Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Downey got themselves on the board against Gregori on Wednesday, but Gregori never followed suit. They came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Ryne Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Downey is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise. Moore was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayceon Sloan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Julian Masani was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Downey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Downey's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gregori, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5.

Downey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
