Softball Recap: Palmer Trinity Triumphs

Palmer Trinity came out on top against Academy for Innovative Education on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Falcons walked away with a 7-2 win over the Aviators. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Aviators, too.

Emily 'Emmy' Cerda made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinsey Cerda, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Palmer Trinity's record now sits at 7-3. As for Academy for Innovative Education, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Palmer Trinity wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Florida Christian on the 22nd. As for Academy for Innovative Education, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Schoolhouse Prep at 1:00 p.m. on the 28th. The Wolfpack are coming into the matchup with five straight losses on the road, meaning the Aviators will have to defend against a team out to prove they can win away from home.
