Football Recap: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Leuzinger Olympians
Hawthorne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 61-6 loss at the hands of the Leuzinger Olympians. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 783rd, while the Olympians are ranked 49th).
Leuzinger was led to victory by Russell Sekona and Kelton Strickland. Sekona threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing, while Strickland rushed for 87 yards and one TD. Strickland got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards. Jamaal Fay was in the mix as well, providing Leuzinger with one score.
Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Leuzinger, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
