Basketball Game Preview: South Garner Titans vs. Willow Spring Storm

The South Garner Titans will take on the Willow Spring Storm at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, South Garner came up short against Clayton and fell 62-52. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Willow Spring unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Garner. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Trojans are ranked tenth).

South Garner will need focus on slowing down Brady Williams, one of several Willow Spring players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in blocks (two). Grant Overman was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Willow Spring smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Willow Spring's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for South Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
