Baseball Recap: Johnstown-Monroe's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Granville, Johnstown-Monroe was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Hamilton Township Rangers as they made off with an 11-5 win. The matchup marked the Johnnies' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Johnstown-Monroe got a great performance from Landon Larason as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave Larason a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sevi Chiddention, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Luke Carter was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.

Johnstown-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the win, Johnstown-Monroe broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for Hamilton Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7-1 record this season.

Johnstown-Monroe will challenge Utica at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton Township, they will face off against Circleville at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
