Basketball Recap: Middleton's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Middleton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 41-30 to the Newsome Wolves. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Middleton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Thea Williams, who posted 13 points. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laurie Julot, who earned six points in addition to ten boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Middleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Middleton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Newsome, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-11.

Middleton will be taking part in a tournament against Gaither at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newsome, they will face off against Blake at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
