Basketball Recap: Sam Houston Takes a Loss

Sam Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 71-63 to the Putnam City West Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Texans still had to take the loss.

Sam Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Putnam City West, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Sam Houston and Putnam City West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. Sam Houston (ranked 452nd) will meet Bowie (ranked 207th) at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Putnam City West will square off against Owasso at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025 down 180 places (184 vs. 4).
