Valley Central won the last time they faced Newburgh Free Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings came out on top against the Goldbacks by a score of 10-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Emily Sharpe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Sharpe was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Ferraro, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Emily Smit, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Valley Central's record now sits at 14-3. As for Newburgh Free Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Valley Central and Newburgh Free Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 43rd) will meet Warwick (ranked 197th) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Newburgh Free Academy will face off against Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (199 vs. 416).
