Basketball Recap: Gateway Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Gateway Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Young Men's Leadership Academy and fell 80-49. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-47 on January 3rd.

Gateway Charter Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trevion Gabriel, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Gabriel has posted since back in December of 2024. Cason Hunt was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points.

Gateway Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Young Men's Leadership Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.

Gateway Charter Academy will square off against A Plus Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Young Men's Leadership Academy, they will face off against Inspired Vision at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
