Basketball Recap: Tornillo Comes Up Short

Tornillo lost against Fort Hancock back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tornillo Coyotes were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Fort Hancock Mustangs.

Patrick Hernandez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Hancock, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Hernandez has posted since back in December of 2023. Max Apodaca was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points and three blocks.

Tornillo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fort Hancock, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Tornillo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bowie at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. As for Fort Hancock, they will challenge Jesus Chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Fort Hancock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
