Basketball Recap: Boys' Home Takes a Loss

Boys' Home lost against Southwest Virginia Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Boys' Home Hilltoppers came up short against the Southwest Virginia Academy Conquerors, falling 68-44. The Hilltoppers were down 54-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Southwest Virginia Academy was led to victory by Nehemiah Goad and Mason Newman. Goad went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, while Newman went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Those 16 points gave Newman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Bishop, who posted 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Boys' Home's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Southwest Virginia Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Boys' Home has already played their next matchup, a 77-46 defeat against Appalachian Christian School on the 25th. Southwest Virginia Academy has also already played their next contest (against Spirit HomeSchool), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
