Basketball Recap: Mescalero Apache Comes Up Short

Mescalero Apache lost against Fort Sumner/House back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mescalero Apache Chiefs took a blow against Fort Sumner/House, falling 70-32. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Fort Sumner/House are ranked 12th).

Mescalero Apache's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fort Sumner/House, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mescalero Apache won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Springer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Sumner/House, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Magdalena at 3:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. One thing working in Fort Sumner/House's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
