Baseball Recap: Tome Finds Home Field Redemption Against Fellowship of Christian Athletes

There's no place like home for Tome, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Falcon on Thursday, sneaking past 10-8. This was a revenge game for the Titans: when they faced off against the Falcon back in April, they had to take a 11-9 defeat.

Matt Woods made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Woods was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Tome's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Liam Griffiths was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Tome is undefeated when Griffiths posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayden Davies, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Tome pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Tome will face off against Tri-State Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, they have already played their next matchup, a 19-1 victory against Rockbridge Academy on the 1st.
