Recap: Antonito Trojans vs. Moffat Cowboys

This season hasn't been kind to the Antonito Trojans, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They suffered a rough 56-35 loss at the hands of Moffat on Saturday. The contest was a close 23-21 at the break, but unfortunately for Antonito it sure didn't stay that way.

Antonito's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Destanaya Quintana, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Luz Elena Parra who scored 17 points along with five steals. Quintana is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Moffat was led to victory by Sequoia Sirois and Kadence McWilliams. Sirois dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds, while McWilliams dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sirois scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Sidel, who scored six points along with two blocks.

Antonito's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.2 points per game. As for Moffat, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antonito will take on Liberty Tree Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Tree Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Moffat, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Centennial at 5:00 p.m.
