Softball Game Preview: Thatcher Eagles vs. Catalina Trojans

Thatcher has gone a perfect 4-0 against Catalina recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Thatcher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Thatcher will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Sabino, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Sabercats on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Alli Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kacee McCluskey was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Shaylee Hughes was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Thatcher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Catalina lost 17-5 to St. Augustine Catholic on Friday.

Catalina's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Thatcher, their record now sits at 12-10.

Thatcher got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Catalina by a conclusive 19-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
