Football Game Preview: Switzerland County Pacers vs. Salem Lions

The Switzerland County Pacers will challenge the Salem Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Switzerland County has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 153 points over their last three contests.

On Friday, Switzerland County came up short against Tecumseh and fell 46-34. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Pacers, who until this game were averaging 14.25 points allowed.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Alex Bailey, who threw for 198 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 54 yards. His longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Masin Stroud was Bailey's top target, picking up 106 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Salem's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 21-14 to West Washington.

Switzerland County will have to keep a close watch on Caris Moore and Logan Dent, a pair of players who had a big impact on Salem's prior game. Moore rushed for 134 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, while Dent rushed for 86 yards and one score. Salem is 2-1 when Moore posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise.

Switzerland County's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Salem, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Switzerland County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 244.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Salem struggles in that department as they've been averaging 233 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
