Softball Game Preview: Loogootee Lions vs. North Daviess Cougars

The Loogootee Lions will take on the North Daviess Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loogootee has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Loogootee made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Knox, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 13-11 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since April 21st.

Loogootee got a massive performance out of Brynn Lengacher, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brianna Eckerle, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither North Daviess nor Evansville Mater Dei made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cougars fell 3-0 to the Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

North Daviess' loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Loogootee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Loogootee might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from North Daviess in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
