Softball Recap: Carlinville Comes Up Short

Carlinville fell victim to Staunton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Carlinville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Staunton, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlinville will venture away from home to take on Gillespie at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Staunton, they will take on North Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
