The Templeton Eagles will take on the Garces Memorial Rams in a tournament on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Templeton saw some tournament action on Monday. Everything went their way against Pleasant Valley as they made off with a 13-3 win. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.
Nate Argain spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andrew Raab, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bo Swan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Garces Memorial can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Garfield. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
D'Angelo Flynn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Garces Memorial is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Flynn was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin Williams and AP Antingiovanni did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Antingiovanni scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Williams has become a key player for Garces Memorial: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Dylan Bell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
The victory got Garces Memorial back to even at 8-8. As for Templeton, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
