Softball Recap: Skyline Gets the Win

While Skyline's victory against Lyons wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thunderbirds narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Lions 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Sarah Reyes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaby Eubank, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Skyline hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Skyline's record now sits at 12-5. As for Lyons, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Skyline beat the Lions by a score of 12-8 later that day.
