Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy Losee Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Somerset Academy Losee posted their closest victory since March 24th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

Somerset Academy Losee got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-19, 25-19, 30-32, 15-9.

Leonardo Ortiz paced Somerset Academy Losee's offense, picking up 17 kills. Ortiz got some help from Matias Espinoza and his 37 assists.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malcolm Lawrence, who had ten digs, nine kills, and three aces. Christopher Graver was another key player, getting six digs, three aces, and one block.

Somerset Academy Losee's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Looking ahead, Somerset Academy Losee will square off against Virgin Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Cheyenne on the 10th.
