Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Otay Ranch typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Mater Dei Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Mustangs. The victory was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won three games in a row.

Colton Gregg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Mater Dei Catholic's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaij Ordaz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Mater Dei Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Otay Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.
