Baseball Recap: Garinger Comes Up Short

Garinger lost to North Mecklenburg back in March of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats came up short against the Vikings, falling 22-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brian Harris made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Samuel Gwin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Garinger's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for North Mecklenburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Garinger will venture away from home to challenge Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for North Mecklenburg, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-6 defeat against Independence on the 14th.
