Soccer Game Preview: Overland vs. Gateway

The Overland Trailblazers will venture away from home to challenge the Gateway Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Overland, who comes in off a win.

If Gateway heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Overland took over last week. The Trailblazers blew past Aurora Central 4-1 on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Overland's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Gateway was not quite Adams City's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 6-2.

Dayanara Vazquez and Sa'Mya Shazier scored both of Gateway's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Overland's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Gateway, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-3 and their overall record down to 3-3-4.

Overland might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Gateway in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Trailblazers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
