Softball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Stoneman Douglas Eagles

The Cypress Bay Lightning will head out to challenge the Stoneman Douglas Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Bay is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Cypress Bay came up short against Monarch on Wednesday, falling 11-3.

Cypress Bay saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Munger, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas got the win against Taravella on Monday by a conclusive 19-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Kaitlin Enright made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Stoneman Douglas let Sophia McComas and Myah Boleen run wild. McComas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Boleen scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Boleen has posted since back in April of 2024. Hanka Kardos also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Stoneman Douglas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got Stoneman Douglas back to even at 8-8. As for Cypress Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Cypress Bay took their victory against Stoneman Douglas when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-8 score. Will the Lightning repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
