Baseball Recap: Bloomington North Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bloomington North hadn't done well against Floyd Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Highlanders 6-4. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly two runs.

Drew Wagner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Wagner wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Freel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory was the third in a row for Bloomington North, bringing their record up to 13-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Floyd Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-12 record.

Coincidentally, Bloomington North and Floyd Central will both be playing Bloomington South the next time they take the field. The Highlanders will head out to face the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
