Basketball Recap: El Paso's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

El Paso had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Irvin Rockets by a score of 44-33 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Jasmine Torres was a one-woman wrecking crew for El Paso as she posted 15 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Marley Montanez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Irvin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Micaela Sifuentes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards gave Sifuentes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Enriquez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

El Paso's record now sits at 5-16. As for Irvin, their record is now 5-12.

El Paso didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 86-2 win against Anthony on the 17th. As for Irvin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-21 victory against Patterson Institute on the 17th.
