Volleyball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Central Catholic had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it seven. They came up short against the Methuen Rangers, falling 3-0. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Methuen, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 3-0).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Methuen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucas Giard, who had 13 kills, seven blocks, and three aces. Giard has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 19 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Shawn LaDuke, who had 28 assists and nine digs.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Central Catholic is set to challenge their familiar foe Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Methuen will square off against rival Haverhill at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
