Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. James Wood

For the first time this season, Liberty will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the James Wood Colonels at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Liberty is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Warren County. Liberty never let Warren County get on the board and left with an 8-0 win last Monday. The victory continues a trend for Liberty in their matchups with Warren County: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, James Wood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Hawks 7-2.

Liberty came up short against James Wood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
