Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Eagles vs. Monrovia Wildcats

Marshall hasn't had much luck against Monrovia recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m.

Marshall is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. The game between the Eagles and Baldwin Park didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 58-43.

Meanwhile, Monrovia strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Valor Academy to the tune of 74-44. With the Wildcats ahead 43-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Marshall took a serious blow against Monrovia when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 88-16. Thankfully for the Eagles, Kevin Sayles (who went 10-for-12 en route to 23 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
