Softball Recap: Atchison Phoenix vs. Tonganoxie Chieftains

The Atchison Phoenix wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-2 walloping at the hands of the Tonganoxie Chieftains. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Atchison in their matchups with Tonganoxie: they've now lost three in a row.

Jadyn Boldridge was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a double. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in the last three games she's played.

On Tonganoxie's side, Sage Isaacs was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Isaacs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Abby Clarkson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and a triple. Jaela Herrera was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Atchison's loss dropped their record down to 8-3-1. As for Tonganoxie, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Atchison by a score of 16-1 later that day.
