Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 10-0 to the Sturgeon Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Jacob Jackson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Connor Chick also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Sturgeon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2025 (when they won 14-4).

On Sturgeon's side, Evan Failor made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Failor was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Langdon Pindell was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Alex Graham, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Madison is taking a road trip to face off against Pilot Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sturgeon, they will face off against New Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
