Golden Valley piles up the points against Central Valley

Make it nine blowout wins for the Golden Valley Cougars this season. They claimed a resounding 64-36 victory over Central Valley at home. Given Golden Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Central Valley is ranked 1052nd), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Golden Valley was led to victory by Braden Castleton and Jeff Tangaan. Castleton scored 15 points, while Tangaan scored 13 points. David Denson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Golden Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Golden Valley will face off against Patterson at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Patterson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Central Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against El Capitan at 7:15 p.m.
