Basketball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Saline Hornets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-20 back in December of 2024.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Saline, they moved to 6-11 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Monroe and Saline could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Monroe (ranked 574th) will meet Bedford (ranked 196th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Saline will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 207 places (363 vs. 156).
