Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Victory Christian Academy played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Illiana Christian Vikings and fell 46-19. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Illiana Christian had a senior duo take command as Abbie Ritzema went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six boards and Ella Olthof posted eight points and eight rebounds. What's more, Olthof also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Jori Davids also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Illiana Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Victory Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th. As for Illiana Christian, they will challenge Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Illiana Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
