Baseball Recap: Greenwood Blue Jays vs. Norwood Pirates        
        
		
            
 Greenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They took  an  11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norwood Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Greenwood of the  10-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2022.
 For Norwood's part,  Laken Coatney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He  struck out six batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Coatney was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Coatney wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Cooper Vaughan, who  scored three  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Holten Lopez, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Norwood, they now  have a winning record of 3-2.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will  take on Verona at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Norwood, they will be staying on the road  on Thursday to face off against Willow Springs at 4:30  p.m. Norwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8  runs per game this season.
