Football Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

Columbia made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bishop Kelly, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Knights by a score of 22-20 on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Columbia still got an impressive performance from Easton Zickgraf, who rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 137 yards and one TD.

Columbia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Troy Swain. Columbia got some further help from Michael Dominguez: he made 14 total tackles (1.5 for loss).

Ben Avella produced another solid effort rushing for 69 yards and one score on only nine carries, while also throwing for 169 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes for Bishop Kelly.

Columbia suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Bishop Kelly, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Columbia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-14 victory against Emmett on the 2nd. As for Bishop Kelly, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-0 win against Skyview on the 2nd.
