Basketball Recap: Eupora Comes Up Short

Eupora extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 6-10. They took a blow against the Velma Jackson Falcons, falling 67-16. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Falcons are ranked 99th).

As for Velma Jackson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Morgan Thompson had another great game (as she tends to do), dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. She has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaya Williamson, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Eupora has already played their next contest, a 34-23 victory against Bruce on the 5th. As for Velma Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-45 loss against Kemper County on the 6th.
