Preview: Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial Patriots vs. Ellington Knights
The Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial Patriots will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Ellington Knights at 6:30 p.m. Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial was beaten by Granby Memorial/Canton 49-8. Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial has not had much luck with Granby Memorial/Canton recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Ellington ended up a good deal behind CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering] on Saturday and lost 40-21. Ellington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Ellington got a solid performance out of Cooper Koehnke, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Tristan Neville, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/Bulkeley/Classical Magnet and 7-1 Rockville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.2% over those games). As for Ellington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial was taken down by Ellington 41-0 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial, Dante Mangiafico (who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 165 yards and four touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
