Baseball Recap: Woodsboro Has No Trouble Against Skidmore-Tynan

Woodsboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Skidmore-Tynan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Woodsboro Eagles' way against the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats on Monday as the Woodsboro Eagles made off with an 18-8 win. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 16-0 victory the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jordan Vega made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cole Thompson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Cole Spalek, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

The win made it two in a row for Woodsboro and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Skidmore-Tynan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Woodsboro will challenge Kenedy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. We've got a battle between Bobcats coming up. Skidmore-Tynan is facing Refugio at the right time seeing as Refugio is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
