The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Granville/Whitehall has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Fonda-Fultonville will arrive with seven straight wins.
Granville/Whitehall fell victim to Hoosick Falls/Tamarac's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 33-0 loss at the hands of the. While losing is never fun, Granville/Whitehall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 397th, while Hoosick Falls/Tamarac is ranked 84th).
Meanwhile, Fonda-Fultonville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 61-12 victory over Rensselaer/Loudonville Christian.
Fonda-Fultonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keegan Croucher, who threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Mason Smith and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Fonda-Fultonville's victory.
Granville/Whitehall's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Schuylerville and 5-3 Johnstown (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.5% over those games). As for Fonda-Fultonville, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
