Caston is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Winamac is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. On Monday, Caston earned a 10-5 victory over Marion.
Natalie Warner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Warner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Lexie Field and Kylee Logan did most of the damage at the plate: Field went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Logan went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Alex Mersch also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Winamac made easy work of Twin Lakes on Monday and carried off a 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brooke Rausch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Goodman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Adrianna Hall was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Winamac's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Caston, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Winamac struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
