Football Recap: Reed Raiders vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles
Reed lost to Del Oro back in August of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Reed Raiders enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the Del Oro Golden Eagles. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Nevada, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 131st in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Nishaan Bajwa and his top target Jayden Purdum. Bajwa threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes while Purdum picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Purdum's longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards.
Although Del Oro took the loss, they still got scores from Matt Ruhkala and Evan Hilmen.
The win made it two in a row for Reed and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
