Recap: Valmeyer Pirates vs. Marissa/Coulterville Meteors
The Valmeyer Pirates lost against the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors on January 6th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Valmeyer was outmatched by Marissa/Coulterville on the road and fell 50-23. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Valmeyer has suffered against Marissa/Coulterville since December 8, 2022.
Brooke Miller and Kierstin Miller certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Miller scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Miller scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and two steals. That was a full 34.8% of Valmeyer's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Valmeyer's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Valmeyer won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Maryville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Maryville Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against New Athens at 6:00 p.m. New Athens is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
