Softball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Has No Trouble Against Crosby

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wolcott, Waterbury Career Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Crosby Bulldogs as they made off with a 23-14 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spartans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jenesys Soto was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Payton Godfrey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Waterbury Career Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Waterbury Career Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-9 record. As for Crosby, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Waterbury Career Academy will host Woodland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crosby, they will venture away from home to take on Terryville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
